Sing, Sing, Sing!

I am, as seems to be the new norm for the past few weeks, a very tired man. I am also, however, extremely happy, excited, pleased, and just generally tickled [insert your favorite color here]. There are two bits of good news I’d like to share with you:

1. The illustrator of issue #2, one Brandon J. Carr, showed me hard evidence that he has, in fact, been illustrating, and that he will, in fact, be finished by Saturday night. This means that Sunday, the site will be updated to show more chapters of the novel, and the e-book will finally be available for purchase (including the super-awesome One State Two State). Huzzah! It’s only a week late; nothing to be alarmed at (although I must resist the urge to make a joke about the ladies at this point), and almost, if not decidedly, worth the wait.

2. I sold a short story, “Songbird,” to Baen’s Universe. It will appear somewhere in their first three issues. I’ll keep you updated as soon as I know more myself.

The coolest thing? Well, the illustrations are nice, but the sale is pure butter, baby. It means I can keep putting my money into Son and Foe, and finally get the driver’s-side front door fixed on my car (I’ve been crawling in through the passenger side ever since about half-way through issue #1).

Plus I managed to make a few enquiries, and hopefully track down what will be the super-cool reprints that (as with issue #1) will help flesh out issue #3 and make it not just pure butter, but pure Amish butter, which is like, just that much better.

In the meantime, it’s time for me to crash. Goodnight, and good luck*.

* (Which, in fact, I saw last night. Will write more about the movie… later.)
