Today I purchased a roast, a medium yellow sweet onion, a six pack, two limes, and an orange. I seared the roast and put it in the crock pot with a bottle of beer. Then I added the juice from the limes and the orange together, a spoonfull of ground ginger, and a lot of brown sugar. I poured that over the roast, sliced some onions and popped them in, and roasted some garlic, which I also put in the pot.
I’ll let you know how it turns out, but it smells amazing.
BTW, this was my first time roasting garlic. Roasted garlic is amazing. Smearing it on buttered toast with (or without) cheese is also amazing. All in all, I feel very fancy. Even fancier? I discovered an add on for Firefox that will allow me to write this and post it all without every actually logging into Our Adventrous Song. Let’s see if it works…
UPDATE: The pot roast was great. The juices, however, were too acidic to make a good gravy with, so in a way, that was disappointing. Next time, I think, I’ll do something simpler. Still, it was a lot of fun to just throw everything in there. Hurray for crock pots!
