Tonight I’m going to see Jose Gonzales perform in Charlottesville. You can follow the link to hear some of his songs. It came up on short notice, but I’m happy. It’ll probably be the best $15 I spend this month (since I’m not acquiring any more fiction at the moment, you see =).
Also, I ran across the below video for “Awoo” by The Hidden Cameras at one of my favorite MP3 blogs:
“Awoo” by The Hidden Cameras
I couldn’t understand the song at all at first, but after finding their website, it all made sense. Here are the lyrics:
From the moment I was taught to resist the education,
to hold it hostage until I know he loves me
With a shrug and an ugh I unleash my holy power
with the feeling of the end of my last examination
(Awoo…)
How sweet is the curd of my own rich qualities
I’d rather wallow in the mud of my own imagination
If I am naked on the throne I’ll be working in the boneyard
Haunts the blood like a bad reputation
(Awoo…)
I’ve got 25 bucks can you save my reputation
Acting like nothing ever happened to me ever
If I covet and conform to my own witch qualities
I will be working for my own now, at least I know he loves me not
(Awoo…)
…
Well, I don’t know about you, but I’m blown away. The song dances a crazy dance between being a downright graphic depiction of homosexual sex and also being so airily abstract that it… it…
Something or another. I’m pressed for time–off to the concert.
